Nokia N83

Vapour Ware? Well, yes and no. It seems that Nokia N83 was the initial branding for the phone that was released as the Nokia N95 at Nokia Open Studio 2006.

Before the N95 was announced, leaked pictures of a possible Nokia N80 successor being called the N83 appeared in some of the usual places:

The leaked details weren't far off the mark either, with a rumoured Q1 2007 release, 352 x 416 pixel screen, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD, 5 megapixel and VGA cameras, UMTS, 802.11b/g, 4GB HDD; the HDD and screen resolution were the only major misses. I wonder if the N83 name will be used in any future devices?

There are plenty of other Specific Phones in the Series 60, Nokia Eseries, and Nokia Nseries ranges that are actually shipping.
